Description

The Camaleño via ferrata is a must-try climbing adventure for anyone seeking thrills in the heart of the Picos de Europa. It’s a spectacular route that combines adrenaline, nature, and breathtaking views of the Liébana Valley.

Accompanied by our professional guides, you’ll enjoy a safe and fun experience, learning how to climb the wall while discovering one of the most breathtaking spots in the area.

During the activity, you’ll climb a completely vertical wall equipped with rungs and safety cables until you reach one of the most thrilling moments of the route: crossing an impressive suspension bridge that will test your nerves and reward you with one of the best panoramic views of the surrounding area.

If you're looking for a unique, adrenaline-filled activity with unforgettable scenery, the Camaleño via ferrata is the perfect way to experience the Picos de Europa from a one-of-a-kind perspective.

    • Approximately 2–3 hours

    • Certified tour guide.

    • Harness, heat shield, gloves, and helmet.

    • Liability and Accident Insurance.

    • Safety equipment provided by the guide (ropes, carabiners, etc.)

    • We should look for hiking boots or trail running shoes designed for light trekking or trail running. They should offer good protection and excellent traction.

    • You should wear long hiking pants that are comfortable, breathable, and have special reinforcements to protect against abrasion.

    • An essential item for maintaining body heat and keeping your skin dry.

    • An essential item of clothing for protection against the wind you may encounter in high mountain areas.

    • Even if we’re well-protected by the clothes we’re wearing, we should still apply SPF 30 or higher sunscreen to all exposed skin to prevent sunburn, which becomes more severe the higher we climb.

    • Sunglasses. They’re essential for protecting us from the sun. They don’t protect our eyes from small stones and twigs we might encounter on the via ferrata.

    • Be sure to bring water to stay hydrated, as this activity takes place in good weather and there are no water fountains at the location.

    • We’ll meet in the parking lot of “Mesón Los Llanos” in the village of Los Llanos in Camaleño, where a guide from our El Portal de Picos team will be waiting for you. They’ll provide you with the necessary equipment, and then we’ll begin the via ferrata.
